Teachers at Winchester College, the former school of Rishi Sunak, have reached an agreement over their pay claim but remain in dispute over pensions, their union said last night.
As the country’s state schools prepare for further rounds of strikes and ballots, decisions over industrial action in the private school sector are conducted on an individual basis at each establishment.
Members of the National Education Union (NEU) at Winchester College had previously voted overwhelmingly in support of strike action over their pay and pensions, but for the time being strike action has been averted after they agreed a pay settlement for 2022-23.
The agreement followed an offer to convert a one-off payment of £500 made in January to a permanent adjustment, giving a typical teacher.
