Following a strike action ballot by the National Education Union, teachers at Winchester College have been awarded a pay rise of 6.4% for a typical teacher.
However, the union remains in dispute over proposed changes to the Teachers’ Pension Scheme (TPS).
Following several months of negotiations with the college, union members have agreed a pay settlement for 2022-23 after the employer offered to convert a one-off payment of £500 made in January to a permanent adjustment to the pay scale. This means a typical teacher will have received a 6.4% cost-of-living increase to pay.
A ballot of NEU members regarding pay and changes to the Teachers’ Pension Scheme (TPS) closed on Tuesday 2 February with 82% voting for strike action, on a turnout of 77%.
