This book suggests that gifted pupils should be able to move more quickly through a subject area than other pupils and offers multiple strategies for accelerating gifted pupils through the content of any school subject.

These strategies give practical advice to teachers in any classroom setting, and are based on an argument that the acceleration of gifted pupils is a necessary step in providing appropriate provisions for them. Acceleration, it is argued, is the most effective and efficient means of promoting long-term learning improvement in gifted pupils.

The book also covers how to identify gifted pupils.
