Looking at the American education system, this book presents summaries, findings and commentaries on 62 research studies. It makes the case for multiple links between learning in the arts and student achievement.

It aims to provide the designers of arts education curriculums with insights found in the research, and suggests strategies for deepening the arts learning experiences of pupils, which are required to achieve the academic and social effects.

The review concludes by recommending new research into the social effects of learning in the arts.

In listing research, EdCentral makes no judgment or recommendation as to its quality, validity or methodology and none should be inferred. Through peer ratings left by education practitioners, EdCentral’s aim is to support the development of a repository of shared knowledge and experience.
