As a consequence of local authorities no longer being required, or funded, to provide a universal careers service, schools and colleges are now required support for pupils. This guide outlines a practical approach to interpreting, meeting and exceeding the requirement of the Statutory Guidance for schools.

The guidance in this booklet should assist the review of those arrangements and help schools to achieve the highest quality careers education, information, advice and guidance services for pupils.

It includes two pages on the work of the Career Development Institute, which has a key role to play in influencing careers and skills policy and a clear purpose to improving and assuring the quality and availability of career development opportunities for all throughout the UK.

In listing research, EdCentral makes no judgment or recommendation as to its quality, validity or methodology and none should be inferred. Through peer ratings left by education practitioners, EdCentral’s aim is to support the development of a repository of shared knowledge and experience.
