Focusing on teaching in American schools, this work by the American Educational Research Association's Panel is a systematic effort to apply academic critique to a range of important topics in teacher education. The Panel's mission was twofold: to create a thorough, rigorous, and even-handed analysis of the empirical research evidence relevant to major policies in teacher training in the US; and to propose a teacher training agenda that builds on existing and upcoming research.
Assesses existing research on teacher training, this volume also outlines what is known about the complex links between teacher training, the work of teachers, and pupils’ learning experiences.
It highlights gaps in existing research, as well as strategies essential to strengthening the base of education research knowledge; the development of methods and measures for education research; and investment in training the next generation of education researchers.
In listing research, EdCentral makes no judgment or recommendation as to its quality, validity or methodology and none should be inferred. Through peer ratings left by education practitioners, EdCentral’s aim is to support the development of a repository of shared knowledge and experience.
